We spent most of today at Seoul National University, the top academic centre in Korea, and host to the UK-Korea “Next-Generation Microbiology” symposium which I was speaking at. The campus was massive and a patch of grass was playing host to a student fair which included a cooking competition, strange stalls advertising clubs and societies and this lady who was really murdering something at Karaoke. Our host remarked that such outward displays by females were rare until fairly recently.
